It’s Your Choice

In the eyes of God each one of us is precious and dear to Him.  He looks at us with pure love and passion.  Through the lens of Jesus, He sees us as perfect and pure and delights in our successes in life.  He is with us in all of our trouble and painful failures, even the ones we caused.  If we could see ourselves as He sees us, we would never be the same.

As early as I can remember, I loved God.  I don’t know how or why since I wasn’t raised in a Christian home.  I just did.  At the age of 17 the Holy Spirit visited me, and I met Jesus for the first time.  I will never forget the love I felt that night as I knelt before the alter with tears of remorse (for my sin) and joy (for His salvation) streaming down my face.  I felt love that night like I’ve never felt love before.

It wasn’t long after that that the spirit of religion came over me and I began to “serve” God out of the sense of duty in order to please Him.  Over time I never felt good enough and strived more and more to please God.  The problem was that I never saw myself as God did.  Yes, I read the Bible over and over, but religion blinded my eyes to His view of me.  I never understood that He loved me just as I was.  I didn’t have to try to be someone else.  He wanted me to be my authentic self so He could transform me into the unique beauty I was destined to be.

After decades of “serving God,” I finally began to see what I was doing and how that all my doing limited God from His doing.  All I had to do was: come.  “Come to me” was His cry.  “Come as you are, for I love you that way.  Let me embrace you and infuse you with the fragrance of My beauty.”  All God wants from me, all He ever wanted from me, was an intimate relationship in order to release His glory and virtue into my life so I could express Him in my unique and special way.  A way that I could only express Him.  He wants the same for all of us.

The Spirit is calling!  He is calling out to all who will listen: “Come!”  He is saying, “Come as you are.  Come with all your uniqueness and LET me engulf you with my glory and virtue so that you and I can express My Son in a unique and wonderful way.”  God does not want you to improve.  He wants to infuse you with Himself.  He wants to permeate our thoughts and watch us express ourselves as His new and glorious creation for all to see.

The Apostle Paul said, “I am who I am, by the grace of God.”  Paul got it!  He was unique and special.  There was no one like Paul and there never will be, and that’s OK.  There is no one like you and there never will be.  God’s grace, His power to change, is enough to transform us into a unique image that expresses Him in a most special way.  All we have to do is COME and LET.  What does “let” mean?  It means to give permission.  God has given us a wonder gift, the gift of choice.  We can choose to let God come, or we can choose to ignore Him.  It’s entirely up to each of us to let Him come and form a loving union with us for the most unique expression in the universe.  Think about it, He and You are the most unique expression of Him EVER!  Each one of us are.  That is awesome isn’t it?

Stop the performance.  Stop trying to be something you are not.  Stop trying to be like someone else you admire.  Be your authentic self and let the Spirit come and do his transforming work in you so that all can see a unique aspect of God though you.  To do anything else is to cheat the Lord of His glory.
