The Importance of Confession

God can legally pardon us when we confess our sins

Both Saul and David were kings of Israel. Both sinned against YaHoVaH. One was rejected by G-D and the other was considered having a heart after G-D. What was the difference? One confessed his sin and the other did not.

Confession plays a major role in our New Testament Christian life. So many believers sin and don’t confess their sins and wonder why their life is not blessed. Some sin yet confess their sin with a repentant heart and are thus forgiven and blessed by G-D. These seek G-D’s kingdom and His righteousness to maintain right standing with
G-D.

G-D’s loves us all unconditionally. He wants all men to be saved and come to the full knowledge of the truth. However, the foundation of G-D’s throne is righteousness (Psalm 89:14; 97:2) and He judiciously cannot turn a blind eye to sin. The remedy is the blood of Yeshua (1 John 1:9), which is applied after confession and gives G-D the legal right to forgive us and keep His righteousness intact.

Our goal, as believers, must be to maintain a righteous standing with God at all times. Unconfessed sins are the source of many sicknesses, diseases, and poverty among G-D’s people. Not that G-D inflicts these things on us…NO!  It’s because we lost our ability for Him to bless us based on OUR unrighteousness.   God cannot bless unrighteousness!

The New Testament teaches us to be holy as G-D is holy (1 Peter 1:16). We cannot do this on our own. We have a helper, the HOLY Spirit. He will guide us down the path of holiness if we maintain fellowship with Him. And if we do sin, we just need to confess (agree with G-D’s righteousness) and plead the blood of Jesus. That gives G-D legal standing to forgive us.  Believers are the only people I know that can approach the throne of grace, confess their “crime”, and though guilty, receive a not guilty verdict based on the sacrifice of our dear Savior Yeshua!

G-D has a kingdom.  Within His kingdom are laws to maintain justice and righteousness.  Satan is aware that God is righteous and is, day and night, accusing us before G-D of our unrighteous deeds.  If we sin (lose our righteous standing in the kingdom), Satan has a legal standing to mess with us based upon our unrighteousness.  G-D’s hands are tied UNTIL we confess our sin(s).  He can’t legally condone our sinful ways.  When we confess our sin(s) G-D has a legal right, based on the blood of Yeshua, to forgive us and cleanse us of those sins.  Thus G-D can maintain His righteousness and shut the mouth of the enemy with his accusations and free us form the guilt of sin.

Dear reader, do not be deceived to believe grace allows us to live as we want.  Grace is the power of G-D to overcome sin and live a holy life before G-D.  Grace is the power to overcome the devil’s temptations and deceptions.  Grace trains us to live godly lives for His glory (Titus 2:11-12).  G-D has given us everything we need to maintain a righteous life so He can bless us abundantly and do so while maintaining His righteousness.

Confession is a blessing.  Having the ability to approach the throne of grace, confess our sins, and enjoy the resulting forgiveness is wonder, amazing, marvelous, and supernatural!  Learn to confess whatever the Holy Spirit and the Word of God reveals to you.  I can assure you that if you do, your will live the blessed life.

Note:  You not doubt noticed that I used G-D instead of God in this article.  Since there is only one true G-D, I wanted to make sure that He is separated from all other so-called gods.  This is a common practice among many Jewish writers who want to proclaim JaHoVaH as the one and only true G-D.  I personally like it and decided to adopt this practice as well.
