Built to Last

Build on a Solid Foundation As believers, we are all building our lives on something.  According to Matthew 7, we are building on either rock or sand.  The true stability of our foundation is manifest when the storms of life come. Where do the storms come from?  They are not from God.  Storms, floods, and pounding rains all come from God’s enemy.  Satan is the one who sends the difficult situations that test the foundation that we are building on.  He loves to witness our foundation buckle and our life fall apart.  But this happens only if we are building a life based on our “shifting” senses (mainly our sight, feelings, and hearing). So, what do we build our lives ...

The Deadly Root of Bitterness

Uproot Unforgiveness in your heart Many people in the body of Christ are sick and diseased.  I believe, for many, the reason for their condition(s) is a root of bitterness.  Hebrews 12:14-15 says: “Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness—without it no one will see the Lord.  Make sure that no root of bitterness springs up, causing trouble and by it, defiling many.” It is so easy to get hurt and offended by what others say or do to us.  When we do, often times we hang on to that hurt or offense until it grows, takes root in our heart and works its way into our very cells.  This root can eventually cause physical sickness and disease which can lead ...

The Blessing of Abraham is Your Blessing Too!

Living the Blessed Life The most pivotal person in the Bible other than Jesus Christ was Abraham.  Through Abraham a God-way of living was established.  Abraham illustrated the kind of life God expects all His people to live.  God made a promise to Abraham (Abram) and Abraham responded to Him by faith. Go out from your land, your relatives and your father’s house to a land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, I will bless you, I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you.  I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and all the peoples of the earth will be blessed through you. ~Genesis 12:1-3 Abraham responded ...

Dream Killers

What could have been There are numerous obstacles that Satan uses to hinder the accomplishment of your dreams.  I call them “dream killers.”  In the Bible Joseph was a man who faced three of the deadliest hindrances that tried to stop him from realizing his dream.  The three things are: Envy Temptation Time Joseph had a dream.  When Joseph revealed his dream to his eleven brothers they became angry and jealous.  Non-dreamers often feel threatened by dreamers. Joseph’s brothers made fun of him, calling Joseph a “dreamer” in a sarcastic way.  They were so envious of him that they wanted to kill him.  But instead of killing him, they sold him to a caravan of traders who took him away ...

The Gift of Choices and the Difference They Make

Choices When God created man, He gave him a very special gift. That gift is the gift of choice. God desired mankind to make choices and it is those choices that have shaped our world. More specifically, it is YOUR choices that have shaped your world. Adam and Eve were presented with a choice: Obey God or accept the offer from the serpent. God’s command was clear, but the serpent’s offer was cunning, dressed in beauty and designed to be something strongly desired. The serpent appealed to Eve’s five senses. persuading her to make the decision to partake of a tree, the fruit of which God had forbidden. Their source had been God’s word and their food the tree of ...

The Power of the Tongue

Watch your tongue “Sticks and stones may break my bones but names (words) will never hurt me.”  I can remember saying this rhyme as a child.  Eventually, however, I learned that words do hurt. Words are very powerful, more powerful than we realize.  Did you know that you can be surveilled by cameras night and day and it’s legal?  However, if your voice is being recorded, you have to be notified of that fact.  Apparently, what we say can be more telling and is of more value than pictures!  For instance, you look at a picture and interpret it as to what you think it means.  Then I come along and change your perception just by telling you a different ...

Wealth Creation God’s Way

Wealth Creation God's Way I love the Gospels.  I read them and re-read them and have been doing so for years.  I love learning how Jesus interacted with the Father, His disciples, and everyone who came to Him. One thing I particularly enjoy is how Jesus spent three and a half years training His disciples to trust God for their provision.  Having our needs met the kingdom way is very different from the earth-cursed system of hard labor–painful toil by the sweat of our brow.  Let me use a few examples to illustrate. In Luke chapter 5 Jesus was teaching from Simon Peter’s fishing boat to a multitude of people who were listening on the shore.  When He had finished ...

Hidden For You, Not Hidden From You

Hidden in Plain Sight God has a plan for all of us.  God has a plan for you.  This plan will be hidden and kept secret until you are ready to discover it.  Sadly, most will never be ready.  Most people will go to their graves never knowing what God prepared for them on this side of eternity. I was born-again in a dramatic way.  However, after a short time I got caught up in the religious system.  Religion has power; power is to get you to conform and be like everyone else in the group.  In religion, you are conditioned to believe certain doctrines.  Many times, you may not know why you believe them.  Eventually the religious life leads ...

Mission: Impossible

God loves impossible missions Genesis 18:11-12 says, “Abraham and Sarah were old and getting on in years.  Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.  So she laughed to herself: ‘After I have become shriveled up and my lord is old, will I have delight?’ Sarah was reacting to a word from the Lord who said to Abraham, “I will certainly come back to you in about a year’s time, and your wife Sarah will have a son.” (v. 10) The Bible says that Sarah laughed at God’s word.  She laughed because God’s word was absurd and impossible for her to imagine happening. God’s response to her laugh was, “Is anything impossible for the Lord?” God let all of Abraham’s natural ...
