Name It and Claim It – Truth or a False Doctrine?

Differing Views I know that writing this will cause reaction, both positive and negative.  However, I feel compelled to present my understanding of this truth. I hear Christians in certain circles poke fun of or get down-right upset over the subject of “naming it and claiming it.”  They can’t believe that all you have to do is name what you want, claim it as yours and it will come to you like a special delivery from Heaven.  To them that thought is absurd.  Who would believe this junk?  It doesn’t make any sense to their natural mind. Then there are those who actually tried naming what they wanted and claiming it as theirs and NOTHING happened.  Therefore, they concluded it ...

Giving Thanks – Tapping into it’s True Power

Five Loaves & Two Fish The other day I was reading John chapter 6 and something hit me like a bolt of lightning.  John 6:11 says, “Then Jesus took the loaves, and after He had given thanks He distributed to those who were seated—so also the fish, as much as they wanted.”  Verse 23 goes on to say, “Some of the boats from Tiberias came near the place where they ate the bread after the Lord gave thanks.”  I noticed that the Lord gave thanks BEFORE the multiplication of the 5 loaves of bread and the 2 fish.  I asked the Lord why?  As I waited for revelation it amazed me that I had never seen this before.  His  answer ...

Have Patience to be Made Complete – Lacking Nothing

Faith, Patience, then the Harvest I love the subject of faith.  Faith is vital to our Christian walk for without it we cannot please God (Hebrews 11:6). I spent most of my Christian life not understanding what faith truly was.  Over the years, I heard a lot about faith and even named my daughter Faith, but faith to me was like Jell-O.  I couldn’t quite grasp what faith really was.  I read books and listened to numerous messages on this subject.  However, I never received personal revelation as to how faith worked, how to get it, and what it is capable of doing in a Christian’s life.  I had head knowledge, but I found that mere knowledge of something falls ...

Prosperity Gospel – What Does the Bible Say?

Prosperity Gospel Over the years I have seen and heard many vicious attacks on what is referred to as, “the prosperity gospel.”  First of all, I think it’s important to define the terms: Prosperity is, according to Dictionary.com, a successful, flourishing, or thriving condition, especially in financial aspects; good fortune. Gospel means, according to the BlueLetterBible.com, a reward for good tidings.  It means good news! So, the Prosperity Gospel is the Good News about being successful, flourishing and thriving, especially in relation to finances. When God created man, He had prosperity on His mind.  He commanded man to be fruitful and multiply.  God made man to flourish in every way.  Just look at the garden (Genesis 1:28-31; 2:8-14)!  After the ...

Memorial Day – What is it All About?

I pledge allegiance What is Memorial Day in the United States of America?  Is it just a three-day weekend kicking off the summer season or is it something more?   Memorial Day is a day designated to remember the soldiers that have died while serving in the armed forces of the United States.  The Bible says, “No one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13).  They have expressed their love for our nation with their very lives! As I write this article, there is a flag flying on my front porch.  When I look at it, thankfulness wells up in my heart for all those who died that I can live ...

Is it Time to Move Your Tent?

God spoke to Abraham after Lot left him and said: “Look from the place where you are. Look north and south, east and west, for I will give you and your offspring forever all the land that you see.  I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust of the earth, then your offspring could be counted. Get up and walk around the land, through its length and width, for I will give it to you.” So Abram moved his tent and went to live near the oaks of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the Lord. I love this portion of the Word.  God made a promise to Abraham.  He told ...

It’s Time to Go!

There will come a time in our life when we will be called on by God to leave the familiar and safe to go to a place of trust and risk.  To advance in God’s kingdom we can’t stay where we are…ever.  We may have an idea what or where our destination is, but trust me, when you get there you will discover that your destination was only a part of your journey!  There is always more. Abram (later named Abraham) was called by God to leave his land, relatives, and father’s house.  Why?  He was well off and comfortable.  He was living the good life.  However, God told him why: “I will make you into a great nation.” “I ...

Praying in the Spirit

Baptism by Fire   One of the most damaging lies of Satan ever perpetrated on the Church is the unimportance of speaking/praying in tongues.  The devil has skillfully made the gift of tongues so unimportant that he has successfully deceived the Body of Christ, rendering it almost powerless. Tongues has always been a sore subject among Christians.  Here are some of the things that I have heard over the years about tongues:   Tongues are the least of the gifts and therefore should not be sought after. Tongues cause division in the Body of Christ. Tongues are childish. Tongues are of the devil. Tongues were temporary evidence during transition from the Old and New Testament.   Speaking in tongues, even ...

Hi Mom, I Miss You!

My Sweet Mom, Mary Today is Mother’s Day.  Like many of you, my Mom has passed on and I miss her.  Have you ever wished you would have done or said some things differently with regards to your Mom?  I would like to relate a story that I have been thinking about recently. Mine was a happy childhood.  I lived in a home with loving parents and siblings.  Mom was a stay-at-home mother.  Mom and Dad decided that her being at home to raise us was more important than having lots of nice things. I am so grateful for that! The biggest disaster we faced as a family was when my parents were involved in a severe car accident in ...
