We are all prophets. It’s just how God made us (ref. 1 Cor. 14:31-32). Our prophetic voice has the power to build up, give understanding, encouragement, consolation, and by our voice we can bring into being that which didn’t exist before. We can speak into our future and prepare it to look like what we say. Our prophetic voice can also tear down and bring devastation.
It’s easy to see how our voice can negatively change things quickly. Just tell someone their breath sticks and see what happens! Watch what just three words, “Your breath stinks” can do to a person’s attitude and actions. Just say “hijack” on an airplane and see what happens! Just that one spoken word will cause the pilots to make an emergency landing and land you in jail!
Many Christians make their prophetic voice a pathetic one! Don’t let that be you. There was a time in my life when I did not understand this truth. I said things like:
“I don’t feel good.”
“I can’t afford it.”
“Why does this always happen to me?”
“You make me sick.”
“Why am I so stupid?”
“We never seem to get ahead.”
This is just the tip of the iceberg of things I said that put me or kept me in those conditions. You will become what you say. Why? Because you are a prophet. Since you are a prophet, why not be a good one!
Instead of stating the facts that I was experiencing at the time I have learned to speak forth the truth:
“I am feeling better and better every day.”
“I’ll have that soon.”
“All things work out for my good.”
“I am brilliant!”
“I am blessed and highly favored!”
“The Lord makes me rich and I keep getting richer until I am very wealthy.”
“I proper and am in good health!”
Start confessing what you WANT and not want you don’t want. You need to confess the good confession and let your prophetic words form good in your life. Believe me, if you do this your life will change, guaranteed.
The Bible says that life and death are in the power of the tongue. On Facebook I read may posts that amaze me! I see professing Christians tell the entire world about how they feel. They confess their every ache and pain. They claim diseases and wonder why they are always sick! I can tell you why…they are what they say (writing reinforces what we are saying)! I see the same ones consistently sick. Here is my advice and it will not cost you a dime: STOP IT! Stop confessing the fact and start overlaying the fact with truth. The fact is that you may be sick, but don’t confess that. Confess the truth. What is the truth? “By His stripes, I am healed!” “No disease will come near my home!” “He removes all sickness from me!” “I prosper and am in good health!” Don’t deny the fact, overcome it with the truth of God’s Word!
Again, your prophetic word foretells your future. Why not speak the kind of future you want? You can shape your future by prophesying goodness and favor. You can be healthy and wealthy by prophesying it so. I know what you are thinking: “He’s nuts!” I am not nuts. I know this to be truth because I have EXPERIENCED exactly what I am writing here.
I have had people MUCH younger that me tell me that I have a lot of energy. I tell them how “old” I am and they could never have guessed it based on my energy level. Sure, my hair is grey, but my passion is not that of a 62-year-old. My attitude is not, “I am going down.”
Examine where you are today. You are where you are today based on the prophetic (or pathetic) words you have spoken in the past. This isn’t rocket science, it’s law, it’s the way God designed us. It’s how He is. He is the Prophet of prophets. He speaks and it happens EXACTLY the way He said it. It will happen that way for you too.
Don’t follow the crowd. Be different. Use your prophetic voice of make a difference, first in your life, and then in the world around you. Speak to the greatness in your spouse and children. Speak life, encouragement, consolation, and hope to others. When you do, people will LOVE being around you. You will brighten to room when you walk in and not when you leave. You will draw people to you as you speak prophetic goodness into their lives. You will become a magnet of goodness, success, wealth, and power. All this is possible because of what you say.
I encourage you to be a strong prophetic voice for such a time as this. Be part of the great move of God by speaking what He speaks.
